Changing, But Staying the Same

Change can be stressful. It can also be good. Sometimes it can be both.

ARISE has been in Michigan from its very inception. ARISE’s roots run deep here in the “mitten” state. After seven years of ministry, ARISE is changing. We’re moving. This is a sad and a happy time for us. We love Michigan and the tremendous leadership and support we’ve enjoyed here as part of the Michigan Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Our heart is wrapped tightly around the laity, pastors, and administrators of this excellent conference. God has blessed us here, and we’re genuinely sad in heart to be leaving.

The opportunity to take ARISE’s mission–to equip effective soulwinners–to another “white-for-harvest” field is exciting and challenging. And where is that field? Go west, young men!

The Central California Conference of Seventh-day Adventists has invited ARISE to relocate to, you guessed it, Central California. (These Conferences are well-named, aren’t they?) There is, of course, no shortage of genuine need in California. The Gospel has a mighty work to do there. And we at ARISE are thrilled to be a part of what God is doing in the Golden State. Because while one thing will change at ARISE, everything else will stay exactly the same!

Seven years ago this ministry was founded with the goal of “equipping tomorrow’s soulwinners today.” Our passion for and commitment to educating, equipping, and empowering the next generation of soulwinners has not diminished at all. In fact, it has grown! We’ve just graduated our seventh class, with our highest attendance to date: 57 students! And what a great group it was! Additionally, this upcoming Summer’s 3-week CrossTraining program to be held in San Jose, CA, in partnership with the Generation of Youth for Christ (GYC), is sure to be a grand blessing and opportunity to many college-aged soulwinners-to-be!

What got us up out of bed seven years ago, still gets us out of bed today: Jesus Christ and His plan for the training, discipling, and sending of workers into the field! Our prayer is that in another seven years (or, better yet, less!) we’ll be relocating again. But this time to our home beyond the sky–Heaven itself!

We’re committed to the broadening of the Kingdom of God on earth through training, evangelism, and media/literature resources. We’re committed to keep on keeping on. Because while some things change, others must stay the same…
